Marti Pettit, owner of Centred Soul Pilates Studio, is a mother, grandmother, and Pilates Instructor, leaving the motor industry behind after nearly 35 years. Marti used to be an avid athlete having completed several races like Two Oceans, trail runs like the The Golden Gate where she picked up injuries and niggles.
She started Pilates to help strengthen her core. Unexpectedly, at the time, Marti experienced an overall improvement of strength, balance and posture.
Having realised the advantages of Pilates, she proceeded and eventually completed her BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training certificate. Marti also attended workshops in “Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies”.
“My journey also took me to investigate breathing and had the wonderful experience of doing an introductory course through Breath Africa.
I have an interest in a holistic approach to health and is busy with a course in Nutrition. Being in the corporate world all my life, I soon saw the benefits to handle stress and keep a balanced life. I experienced a more quality life, sleeping better and positive outlook on life.”
Belinda Harris is our Centred Soul Pilates associate. Belinda’s journey with Pilates started in 2010 when a friend introduced her to the world of Pilates. She fell in love with Pilates and soon experienced the many benefits it had to offer; from intercostal breathing to reduce stress and support lung capacity, to core strengthening and rehabilitation of prior sport injuries.
Belinda completed the BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training certificate in 2019 and value the importance of continuous learning and development as well as keeping her personal Pilates practice up to date.
Having worked in Corporate South Africa, Belinda understands the impact of a sedentary day job and how to better your lifestyle by finding a balance between the two.
“My purpose as Pilates instructor is to support you through the process of connecting mind and body, creating body awareness, and realising your body’s potential through conscious movement, balance, and control.”
